How to reach the Convent
of Saint Dominic of Fiesole
(starting  from  Florence)

By Car

 if you are arriving by car from the Motorway:

• from the north: exit Florence north (Firenze nord), and follow the signs for “Viali di Circonvallazione” and then to Fiesole.

• from the south: exit Florence south (Firenze sud) and follow the signs to Florence and then to Fiesole.

One may easily find parking on the road to the convent or on the side streets near the convent.

By Bus   

To get to the Convent, from Florence city take the ATAF bus no. 7, from any of the stops marked below:

• Florence railway station (Santa Maria Novella)

• Via de' Martelli  (Piazza Duomo)

• Piazza San Marco

• Piazza delle Cure (bridge over railway)

• Piazza Edison (the road starts climbing here)

Get off at San Domenico di Fiesole. This is the stop after the stop marked 'Osped. di Camerata 1' and just after the large sign indicating Fiesole. At the actual stop you will see a bar/pizzeria on your left and a bar/cafe on your right. The ride from the station takes about 20 minutes.

Bus lines, stops and timetables are available on the public bus service's (ATAF) web site.

Bus ticket

Remember to buy your bus ticket ("biglietto") before boarding the bus.

You can buy tickets outside the railway station, at the no.7 bus terminus ('capolinea'), where there is an ATAF bus-ticket kiosk and self-service vending machines. Other places to buy tickets are tobacconists ("tabacchi") and most cafe/bars (they will display the orange "Biglietti ATAF" sign on the door).

Ticket Prices

• single tickets cost 1 Euro each, or

• blocks of 4 cost 3,9 Euro.

Once stamped in the machine aboard the bus, the ticket is valid for 60 minutes travel in any direction, on any number of buses.

By Taxi

A taxi from the central station to the Convent will cost about 20 Euro.

If you are arriving by plane, a taxi from the Florence (Amerigo Vespucci) airport will cost about 25 Euro.

From the Convent
to  Florence

To visit the historic center of Florence, one may use the autobus n° 7 - which has a stop across the street from the front door of the convent. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the historic center on the bus.
